October 8th is a very meaningful and important date for Steph and Josh and when a category 4 hurricane threatened to cancel their wedding, things got very stressful and there were many last minute decisions that had to be made. Not only had they planned an outside celebration with friends and family that Saturday, they also lived where the destruction could have been devastating. Many of their friends and family were also in the path of Hurricane Matthew. They lost power, many friends and family members chose to evacuate and some of their vendors did too.
But love is funny. Stress is too. They were faced with so many problems that had to be solved, so many events and plans changing and on top of it, not knowing if their house would still be around. But they got through it. They made it work. They worked together, had a few hardcore discussions and conversations and decided to move forward no matter what.
And on October 8th, after cleaning up a fallen tree and lots of debris, Stephanie and Josh had a very intimate and perfect ceremony. It was a sunny and breezy day and through all of the chaos, they said their vows under the trees.
And we were there. Because they had become our friends. Not even a hurricane was going to stop us from being there to celebrate, support and document their wedding weekend.
The power finally came on that night and so the party was to continue the following day. A good friend stepped in as DJ, the food was amazing, the decor and florals were incredible, and the people who came embraced Steph and Josh and their Hurricane Wedding.
So screw you Matthew.
Love can't get rained out.
